Our Program
In the Joglo Clubhouse School classroom, we deliver our own innovative cross-curricular program that ensures engagement, and with low student-teacher ratios we can help each child on an individual basis.
We are proud to be flexible in our approach, employing a range of methods – classic, Montessori, project/inquiry-based, and personalized techniques, as well as the extraordinary power of adaptive digital learning, all dependent upon the subject, topic, and most importantly, the students themselves.
A Typical Week At
A balanced international education
Core subjects at Joglo Clubhouse School include Art, Social Studies, English and Math, with students always actively collaborating and challenged individually, resulting in optimal learning and engagement.
Based on the Cambridge Internatioal Primary Curriculum for Global Perspectives, English and Science, we have developed our own dynamic, unique cross-curricular thematic framework, that takes the weekly Social Studies theme and applies it throughout all subjects. In English we are skills focused – Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking – students practice through the thematic context and develop the linguistic literacy required to boost their confidence and face the world with heads held high.
Additionally, we have our own, internally developed programs – “Indonesian Language & Culture”, where students learn about our beautiful home here in Bali, Indonesia. We have also developed our own “Life Skills” program that gets students practicing the crucial skills to prepare them for tomorrow’s world.
The Arts are central to our philosophy of positive growth and harmony, and explored throughout all subject areas. Mixing it up with a little art here and there is a great way to keep the kids engaged!

Classroom Subjects
Art
Art is our favorite subject at Joglo Clubhouse School: it’s a time for kids to relax and have fun, explore their creative potential, and calm the mind. Artistic expression plays a central role in emotional well-being, and if inspiration hits us, it can be weaved in with any other subject area. Should a student’s passion be all about Art, let’s feed that passion. If not, let’s see if we can find it!
We are excited to provide opportunities for a wide range of creative activities including sketching and painting, music, dance, crafts, molding/sculpting/carving, performance, language/creative writing, and culinary skills.
Our Art teachers are vastly talented and love guiding the students through a wonderful variety of projects, and our piano teacher is incredibly popular (she’s a genius!).
English
As literacy is central to students’ overall well-being, it is central to our school program as a whole and the development of language skills is encouraged at all times. Within all our classes, we always look to encourage the growth of linguistic confidence through fun participation and discussion.
There are English classes everyday at Joglo Clubhouse School in which students enjoy fun classroom activities, personalized based on the students’ individual levels, with specific focus on reading and writing – let’s get our kids using pencils and paper again!
English is a key component of the cross-curricular framework as we get the students honing their skills – Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking – while for the crucial development of grammar, lexis and phonetics we zero in on each student’s specific, individual levels using the online program IXL.
Math
Math is a crucial subject not just for the obvious reasons. Numeracy inevitably has a positive impact on overall well-being – see your child develop skills in Math and watch them also grow in confidence generally.
Believe it or not, Math is fun! The trick is to make sure that students are engaged in activities and exercises that interest them and are pitched at exactly the right level.
Everyday there is a Math lesson at Joglo Clubhouse School, and just as with English, students learn through fun classroom exercises and games, adapted to meet individual student needs, and again getting them happy with that pencil and paper!
Social Studies is the glue that binds the whole Joglo Clubhouse framework together. Through fun project-based inquiry, we endeavor to help students feel comfortable expressing themselves while exploring how things work, how we fit in the world, the vast dynamic of the human world, and all the magnificent natural processes occurring all around us.
We are always looking for opportunities to help our students explore their outlook on the world as a whole, and evaluate and express their thoughts and feelings for these concepts. Through an innovative cross-discipline approach to our projects, we strive to inspire further creativity by bringing the Arts into our work whenever we can.
Science is also thematically linked to the cross-curricular program, but often it is a standalone subject. For lower primary we look to inspire with fun experiments, while for upper primary we look to challenge students with more theory-based instruction as well.
Life Skills
This is probably our most exciting development – we are very proud to have developed a program that prepares students for tomorrow’s world. School should not just be students learning about the world, they should also be learning about themselves.
There is a 6 strand approach, with students exploring everyday real-life skills, problem solving & reasoning, self-development & growth mindset, future-ready skills, character-building & social-emotional learning, and health & wellness.
Indonesian Language & Culture (ILC)
Selamat Siang! Bali is magnificent, and Indonesia is simply incredible. At Joglo Clubhouse School, we believe it is important for kids to understand the place where they live and the people around them – what amazing cultures, and what a majestic place we live in.
This is why we have developed our very own, unique Indonesian Language & Culture program.
There is so much wonder in our home here – to be able to speak to the local people, learn the stories of this beautiful country, and understand this wonderful way of life is a privilege that we simply must tap into! Matur Suksma Bali!
IXL
These days it’s impossible to ignore the power of online adaptive learning programs like IXL driving incredible progress for students all over the world.
At Joglo Clubhouse School we use IXL to further boost our students’ Math and English proficiency. Students answer questions in a diagnostic “arena”, which informs the program of their precise levels in all subject strands. They are then presented, individually, with a comprehensive selection of exercises based on their own levels, with very delicate guidance from the teacher, ensuring understanding while encouraging independence.
No pressure, no comparisons, no meaningless exercises.
With a diligent approach, great progress is guaranteed, leaving us with more time to have enjoyable, pressure-free lessons with our wonderful teachers.

Which curriculum does Joglo Clubhouse follow?
Joglo Clubhouse has developed a unique cross-curricular, project-based program based around the Cambridge International Primary English and Global Perspectives subjects. Dynamic and engaging weekly “Social Studies” (including Geography and History) themes are explored through English skills practice – reading, listening, writing and speaking. On top of this, our other subjects – Arts & Crafts, Science, Life Skills, Indonesian Language & Culture – are also tied in, making for an incredible cross-curricular framework that dives deep into each weekly theme. Occasionally there are some Math principles that can join in the fun, but usually Math stands alone, because, well, it’s Math!
What subjects are taught at Joglo Clubhouse?
English, Math, Social Studies (including Geography & History), Science, Life Skills, Indonesian Language & Culture, and of course, central to it all, Arts & Crafts!
Does Joglo Clubhouse follow any particular educational approach, like Montesorri?
No we don’t follow any one particular approach, we do our best to take advantage of them all, because they all have strengths in certain contexts, most importantly it depends on the students. Some students react well to Montesorri, but some don’t, and are much happier working their way through a more classic method. We are very lucky to have the freedom to apply any approach at any time, whatever works best for our students.
What does a typical school day look like?
Students start arriving at 8.30am, classes run from 9am – 2pm and then pick up is 2.30pm latest. Snack time is 10am, lunchtime is at 12pm, and then we have another little snack at 2pm. In total we have a perfect balance – 3 hours of dedicated class-time, and plenty of outdoor break-time fun (much of that spent in the pool!). Just before lunch we have our unique “Free session” which gives the kids the freedom to choose their activity – as long as it’s productive! (active outdoor fun included 😀) And then just after lunch, before the afternoon classes begin, we have a 15 minute “Quiet session”, to calm down after the high energy fun of the lunch break, and get their minds back into class-time mode ♥️
What is IXL, and how is it used at Joglo Clubhouse?
IXL is a modern wonder of the schooling world – when we have this kind of program at our disposal, it’s impossible to ignore. And in the end, the incredible progress that students make as a result, gives us the confidence to approach the rest of the day with less pressure. It is the final piece that provides that perfect balance between academic excellence and our childhood enjoyment. Once per day the students do a short session on IXL, fine-tuning their Math and English skills, with exercises that are pitched optimally, individually. It learns your child’s precise levels in every sub-strand of Math and English and delivers the perfect exercises that challenge them and ensures great progress.
